Round the Island
The John Whiting Round the Island (RTI) race is a time trial held on the Yarra. The course starts at the Judges' box near the Henley staging and runs upstream, around Herring Island anticlockwise and back to finish at the Judges' box.
Scullers are assigned a numeric bow number and must start in this order. Detailed instructions and a safety plan for competitors available for downloading at the bottom of this page.
PLEASE print the instructions and maps and study them so you have a good understanding of all aspects of this event.

Important Additional Safety issue Cremone Rail Bridge to Chapel St Bridge
Please be aware that the large Arbory Afloat vessel has been parked between the Rail Bridge and Chapel St bridge on the south side. the passage through this area is now extremely narrow
Scullers MUST pass through this stretch strictly in single file (when travelling BOTH ways)
Anyone attempting to overtake in this zone WILL be disqualified on Safety grounds
There will be a limited number of buoys placed out in this area but the obstacle is very large and comes a long wayout from the banks. Scullers need to take responsibility for their own steering
